Timeline: Azure Moon, Chapter 17 (the battle of Gronder)
Class: Dark Knight
Personality: Sylvain tries to seem easy going (and is generally pretty good at it). He uses flirting and self-depreciating humor as defense mechanisms and general resigns himself to people having a poor opinion of him as a person. He is a hopeless flirt and, in the past, had a tendency to hop from relationship to relationship. As an adult, those habits have decreased significantly and he doesn't tend to chase after relationships so much, but boy does he still enjoy flirting.
That being said, he places great value in other people. He is willing to put his life on the line for others and will go out of his way to help strangers. He is, oddly enough, a great Knight. He believes that if you can help someone, you should. He loves his friends with his whole heart and would throw himself on the sword for them. He is a caretaker by nature and often checks on people to praise their skills and do what he can to boost morale. He is also great at acknowledging when someone else has a greater skill than him, no matter what the difference in perceived power dynamic may be, and will actively request that other people teach him.
He is very smart, but pretends he isn't. A big part of this is his aversion to having to live up to other peoples' potentially high expectations. He would rather be seen as a layabout because then he can't disappoint anyone by not living up to any expectations that they may have for him.
Also, he loves food but is also used to going hungry. Yay being from an impovershed company with horrible agricultural opportunities.
